Editor’s Note – 2010!

Posted in Uncategorized by scribequill on April 2, 2010

Editor’s Note

Last year, 2009, was full of changes on both personal and professional levels. On a personal level, I was incredibly busy working with the paranormal investigation group I founded in 2005, Colorado Springs Paranormal Association (C.S.P.A.). To date, we’ve conducted nearly 70 investigations and captured a lot of intriguing evidence. We’ve also helped many clients feel safer and better about the activity in their homes and businesses. A passion of mine — the paranormal — became a full-blown undertaking. When I wasn’t writing, editing and coaching, I was investigating claims of the paranormal.

On a professional level, I stayed busy with a myriad of writing and editing jobs. In addition, I taught online writing courses and coached other writers. Along the way, my fascination with the paranormal worked its way into my writing as well. If the year wasn’t busy enough, I took on the hosting of not one, but two, podcasts: Elemental Musings and Inside Paranormal Colorado Springs. Never satisfied to sit around and do nothing, I plan to pursue my literary and paranormal passions throughout this year and into the future. I’m excited over the opportunities opening up on the horizon and am always eager to move ahead!

Last year, my fourth book, Hidden Fire, was released by Whiskey Creek Press. My previous romance book, Mending Fences, was released in late 2006. Both are written under my fiction pen name, Star Ferris. I’ve also plunged headlong into social media on both Facebook and Twitter. Also launched a couple of new writing-related blogs, Writer’s Dominatrix and Succulent Scribe, in addition to the ever-present Elemental Musings. Feel free to friend me, add me, or subscribe to any of the blogs listed above.

As you already know, Scribe & Quill no longer publishes monthly. Because of my work schedule and other obligations, the zine will be published four times this year, rather than twelve. Our previous mail host, Zinester, is defunct, so the ‘zine will be linked here as well as over here at http://scribequill.wordpress.com/. Once I find a suitable mail host, I’ll resume e-mail delivery. Scribe & Quill will continue publication through 2010 and beyond–just as it has (in some form or another) since 1997. Believe it or not, we are going into our 13th year of publication!

As an addition to our services, my husband, who is a professional videographer and video editor, is offering his book promo video services to authors of all genres. Scribe & Quill readers/subscribers receive a discounted rate. Most authors can’t afford to sink $500 or more into a single book video promo, which is why my husband decided to launch Paul’s Promos, a book video design service that offers an affordable alternative for those of us who have limited funds, but who still want and need a quality book promo. To receive a quote, e-mail Paul at paulspromos@gmail.com or visit his page to view samples of book videos he’s already created.

For previous issues of Scribe & Quill, visit our Archives section. Quarterly issues for 2010 will be released during spring, summer, fall and winter. This site is always under revision, so be sure to clear your cache and refresh your browser each time you visit.

Please note the ONLY official address for the original Scribe & Quill is: http://www.scribequill.net The .com site is no longer associated with the original Scribe & Quill. It was yanked out from beneath us and now some person or company I don’t even know owns the domain. So if you see anything going on over at the .com site, it’s not the original Scribe & Quill and I have nothing to do with that domain.

Beginning March 21: guest blogger and Fear of Writing author Milli Thornton to post monthly writing prompts based on your zodiac sign!

Posted in Editor's notes, Uncategorized by scribequill on February 25, 2009

I’m pleased and excited to announce a monthly collaboration with my friend and author colleague, Milli Thornton, beginning March 21, 2009!

Recurring monthly, Milli Thornton, author of Fear of Writing will be a regular guest blogger at my Elemental Musings blog. Milli really enjoyed my book, Sun Signs for Writers, and asked if she could do monthly prompts for each sun sign beginning in March with Aries. Of course I said yes!

If you aren’t familiar with Milli’s work, she’s a fantastic author, mentor and writing instructor. BUY her book, Fear of Writing, and visit her website TODAY:  http://www.fearofwriting.com

I’m thrilled and pleased beyond measure to collaborate with Milli on this project! She has some amazing writing prompts, so your Muse will be revved and ready once you try them!

Because she’s generous, Milli asked if I, too, would be a guest on her blog, the Fear of Writing blog. And, of course, I said yes! I’ll be blogging about writing and creativity, but you’ll have to drop by to check out the specifics ;-) My blog will drop the first week of March, so stop by! Thanks, Milli, for this opportunity!

Writers, bookmark this site and put March 21st on your calendar. Then come back here each and every month to check out the specialized writing prompts Milli’s cooked up for YOUR astrological sign!

Celestial Best Wishes,

Bev  ;-)

Editor’s note for 2009

Posted in Editor's notes by scribequill on January 30, 2009

Happy new year from all of us at Scribe & Quill!

This past year was full of changes on both personal and professional levels. On a personal level, I got married in August. On a professional level, I stayed busy with a myriad of writing and editing jobs. The end of 2008, I added the title of writing coach to my resume. This coming year I plan to keep the momentum going on all fronts.

In 2009, my fourth book, Hidden Fire, is due for release by Whiskey Creek Press. I’ve also been offered the position of Director of Education for an online author school. In addition, I’ll continue to write articles, edit manuscripts and coach writers. Many fascinating opportunities are on the horizon, and I plan to stay busy. But my heart, soul and roots remain planted firmly in Scribe & Quill. They always will!

As you already know, Scribe & Quill no longer publishes monthly. Because of my work schedule and other obligations, I decided to publish the newsletter four times a year, rather than twelve. It’s possible that, in the future, the newsletter may go monthly again, but I don’t foresee it at this time. However, Scribe & Quill will continue publication through 2009 and beyond–just as it has (in some form or another) since 1997. I can’t believe we’re going into our 12th year of publication! That’s a mind-blower for sure!

As an addition to our services for the new year, my husband, who is a professional videographer and video editor, is offering his book promo video services to authors of all genres. For a limited time, Scribe & Quill readers/subscribers will receive a discounted rate. Most authors can’t afford to sink $500 or more into a single book video promo, which is why my husband decided to launch Paul’s Promos, a book video design service that offers an affordable alternative for those of us who have limited funds, but who still want and need a quality book promo. To receive a quote, e-mail Paul at paulspromos@gmail.com or visit his MySpace profile to view samples of book videos he’s already created.

Scribe & Quill’s first quarterly issue of 2009 will be linked on the home page as well as available at our Zinester page. For previous issues, visit our Archives section. Our quarterly issues for 2009 will be Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. The Web site is always under revision, so be sure to clear your cache and refresh your browser each time you visit.

Please note the addresses of our TWO official sites are: http://www.scribequill.net and http://www.scribequill.org The .com site is no longer associated with the original Scribe & Quill. It was yanked out from beneath us and now some person or company I don’t even know owns the domain. So if you see anything going on over at the .com site, it’s not the original Scribe & Quill and I have nothing to do with that domain.

Now I present to you the 2009 journey of Scribe & Quill. ;-)
